Graveside services for Mrs. Ada Lee Steele Etheridge Huff were held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Mt. Vernon Methodist Church Cemetery in Amite County with her nephew Jerry Brown and Rev. Phil Turner, Senior Pastor at Easthaven Baptist Church, Brookhaven, officiating.
Mrs. Huff, of Amite County and Brookhaven, died Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Brookhaven. She was born on August 29, 1924, in Franklin County, Mississippi, the middle of nine children born to Thomas Barney Steele and Velie Freeman Steele. She was a long-time member of Royal Chapel Methodist Protestant Church, Amite County, and most-recently of Easthaven Baptist Church, Brookhaven.
Mrs. Huff was a loving and supportive homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known throughout the Homochitto Community for her delicious biscuits and cornbread, and folks knew they were always welcome at her table.
She was preceded in death by her first love and the father of her children, Rev Emerson "Dub" Etheridge, an infant son Barney Lee Etheridge, her daughter Linda Ann Jenkins, her son-in-law Rev. Andy Jenkins, her second husband Alcus Huff, her granddaughter Kristie Etheridge, her great-granddaughter Alexis "Lexie" Ulrich, three sisters: Birdie Brown, Wonzie Jackson, and Audrey Bass; and four brothers: Lucien Steele, Lloyd Steele, Adrian Steele, and Raybon Steele.
Survivors include her brother Clem Steele, two sons James Larry Etheridge and his wife Virginia "Gin" and Terry Emerson Etheridge and his wife Christi. Additional survivors include her seven grandchildren: Stephen Andrew Jenkins (Valerie), James Larry "Jay" Etheridge (Misti Ann McPherson), Abigail "Abby" Jenkins Dearman (Eric), Joseph Willie "Joey" Etheridge (Brandi Lynn), Christopher Chase Etheridge, Kara Lynn Etheridge Skinner (Jonathan), and Anna Lee Etheridge; her great-grandchildren: Baylie Etheridge (Ashley Ann), Jodi Lynn Etheridge, Lauren Lynn Skinner, Mallory Ann Etheridge, Jon Alex Skinner, Braigen Allen "Bo" Etheridge, Laurie Anna "Lulu" Etheridge, McKinley Grace Dearman, Madelyn Auri Dearman, Kayla Jenkins, Kyle Jenkins, Anndrianna Jenkins, Andy John Jenkins, and Trey Rozier; two great-great grandchildren Cameron Luke Etheridge and Madison Ann Etheridge; special friends Butch and Dawn Thurman and their family, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made to Easthaven Baptist Church New Day Fund, 130 US 84, Brookhaven, MS 39601, or New Hope Baptist Church, Building Fund, 6573 Hwy 145, Meridian, MS. 39301.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons.
