Avis L. "Tootsie" Abshire passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022.  She was 87 years old, born October 31, 1934 to Fred and Ora Arnold.  She was a lifelong resident of Amite County, Mississippi.

Mrs. Avis was a caregiver for years. She loved her flowers, the birds outdoors, and farm life. She was a great mother, and grandmother. "Mawmaw Tootsie" was a great cook, she just loved to cook, especially Sweets; and you can't forget the Dr. Pepper.

She is preceded in death by her parents Fred Arnold and Ora Arnold, two daughters Tammy Lange and Nancy Guerin, one sister LaQuiata Wilkinson, and two brothers Malcolm Arnold and Pagel Arnold.

She is survived by her husband Harvey Whittington, two sons Michael Tynes and Jeanette, and Donnie Tynes; one daughter Patsy Sanders; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in the Oxford Communuity.

Pallbearers are Jeremy Folks, Michael Tynes Jr., Joshua Tynes, Chris Russo, Chase Steele, Larry Sporh, and Matt Perry.
