Bettye Jane Moore Sturgeon passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Bettye was born in Woodville, MS on August 26, 1932. Growing up, she was an active member of the Woodville Baptist Church, where she was baptized. She was a very smart business woman who worked tirelessly helping countless people who struggled in life. She loved her family above all else and was deeply loved in return. She will be missed by many.

She is preceded in death by her husband Alonzo Holmes Sturgeon, Sr, son, Alonzo Holmes Sturgeon, Jr, parents, Tobie Delton Moore, Sr. and Nellie Burline Morris Moore, sister, Elizabeth Loraine Moore, and nephew Tobie Delton Moore III.

She is survived by her niece Dearing Moore Stevens (Dan), grandsons- Joel Walker Phillips Sturgeon, Alonzo Holmes Sturgeon III (Zo), daughter in law, Jeretta Hunter Sturgeon, Brother, Tobie Delton Moore, Jr, (Teresa) Nieces- Elizabeth Renee Jensen Cavin (Kenny), Carson Elizabeth Cavin Blough, (Christian), Haley Moore Walker, Macey Neal Walker, Toby Grace Stevens and Emery Lynn Stevens. Nephews- Levin Edward Walker, Lance Moore Walker (Cristy), and Kenneth Parker Cavin (Rachel).

The family would like to thank her best friend Alicia Vaughn for taking such good care of Bettye all these years. Also, we want to thank Anette Turner and Gloria LaFontaine for all their help.

A small family service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 11am.
