Obituary

Bobbye June Carter Ashley, born June 19, 1930, in Wilkinson County, Mississippi, "moved to the other side of the river" on August 28, 2021, at her home in Huntsville, Alabama.

Bobbye dearly loved her family.  She taught all of us, in life and in death, that love is eternal.  She has made all of us more determined to walk in the "straight path" that leads to life eternal.

Bobbye is survived by her sons, Tim Ashley (Pam) and Mark Ashley (Sarah); five grandchildren, Ty Ashley (Brittany), Katy Orr (Lucas), Amber Ashley, David Ashley (Katie), and Elizabeth Peregrin (Daniel); thirteen great-grandchildren, Sam, Silas, Smith, Mira Grace, and Leah Ashley; Carter T. and Ivy Orr; Anna, Lily, Abby and Lucy Ashley; and Luke and Matthew Peregrin.  She is also survived by her brother, Julius M. Carter (Pauline).

Bobbye is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years, John Dudley Ashley; her parents, Dave and Myrtle Carter; and her sister, Ardis Marie Cobb.

Due to Covid-19, a graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville, MS, Saturday, September 4, 2021.  Ministers Bernard Waites, Warren Whitaker, and John Bryant will officiate.

Pall bearers are Ty Ashley, David Ashley, Jerry Geter, Lucas Orr, Sam Carter Rosso, and Bruce Woodson.

Bobbye had a special place in her heart for people who do not have access to clean water.  Because she had to draw well water as a child, she has contributed to water well projects in Africa so children in those villages could have clean water.  In lieu of flowers the family is asking that contributions be made to Healing Hands International ( www.hhi.org ), select 'clean water projects'; His Way, a recovery facility in Huntsville, AL ( https://hiswayinc.org select 'Ways to Give'); or to your hospice of choice.
