Calvin
Poole
d. May 19, 2026
Calvin Philip Poole, Jr., M.D. passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Born on June 30, 1955, to Calvin Philip Poole, Sr. and Carmen Havard Poole, Calvin was a lifelong resident of the Homochitto Community near Gloster. He attended Ole Miss and went on to earn his medical degree, dedicating his life to the care and well-being of others. For Calvin, being a doctor was more than a profession, it was a calling. He treated his patients with compassion, humility, and a genuine desire to help, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
Above all else, Calvin's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was his family. He deeply loved his three sons and took immense pride in the men they became. Whether offering guidance, sharing stories, or simply spending time together on one of their many hunting or fishing trips, his presence in their lives was steady, strong, and full of love. That same love extended to his grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness.
Calvin found peace and contentment in the simple pleasures of life. He loved being outdoors hunting in the woods, fishing along familiar waters, and enjoying the beauty of the land he called home. These moments reflected his appreciation for God's creation and the life he was blessed to live.
He is survived by his three sons: Calvin Philip Poole III and wife Anna Katherine, Hunter Daniel Poole and wife Kaylie, and Joseph Hillery Poole and wife Samantha; and his six grandchildren: Calvin Philip Poole IV, Emory Laurel Poole, Roan McKenzie Poole, Sara Grace Poole, J.D. Poole, and Wally Poole.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, Mississippi, from 10:00 A.M. until the time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M., officiated by Hollis McGehee. Graveside services will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
Calvin will be remembered for his servant's heart, his quiet strength, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished so dearly.
Pallbearers are Watkins Buckley, Chico White, Robert Reid Longmire, Jason Ballard, Tyler Jones, Jonathan Roark, David Dickinson, and honorary pallbearer Kenny Huff.
