Obituary

On Saturday, April 25, 2020, Charles Douglas Nash, loving husband and father, peacefully passed away at the age of 93 at Steadman Hill Assisted Living, Kingsport, TN after a long battle with cancer. Charles was born on September 5, 1926 in Amite County, MS to Fred and Verne Huie Nash. Charles grew up on his family's farm and is a graduate of Gloster High School. After serving in the US Navy, he married Sophie Capsuto and raised their daughter, Leslie. Memphis, TN was home until returning to Gloster to care for his mother, after which he and Sophie moved to Kingsport to be near their daughter. Charles' love for God and his family was evident by his life. He was active in the Baptist church and the author of two books about Israel and a third book entitled, Life with Sophie. Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Freddie Nelson, his first wife, Sophie Capsuto Nash, and his second wife, Evelyn Sansing Nash. He is survived by his daughter, Leslie Williams Davis, son in law, Craig Davis, his grandchildren, Jennifer Morris and Scott Williams, his great granddaughter Hannah Green, and sister Libby Walsten. He will be greatly miss by family and friends. A special thanks to the staff at Steadman Hill as well as his hospice nurse, Kelli. Limited graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at East Lawn Funeral Home, but a memorial service will be announced at a later date.
