Claudine Wilson, 95, longtime resident of Liberty, MS. went on to her heavenly home September 28, 2021.
Claudine was born in Crystal Springs, MS. September 8, 1926, and spent her growing up years there. She was the ninth of nine children born to Claude and Maggie Yarborough Whittington.
She graduated from Crystal Spring High School in 1943. In September 1949 she married Everett Wilson of Hazlehurst, MS. in her home church, County Line Baptist Church in Copiah County, and they began their life together in Liberty, MS. shortly after. They soon joined Liberty Baptist Church and were active, supporting members for the remainder of their lives.
In 1950, at the age of 24, she became the school secretary at Liberty High School, and remained in that position for 10 years. She left the school in 1960, and was appointed the Liberty Town Clerk where she remained for 10 years. In 1970, she became the office secretary for the Selective Service System (Draft Board) in Liberty, MS. Some years later she took her last job as secretary with the Homochitto National Forrest in Bude, MS. and retired from that job in 1980.
Claudine and her husband Everett both retired in 1980 and had a long and enjoyable retirement together. Everett passed away in 2017.
She is survived by her son, Lee Wilson and wife Becky of Magnolia, MS.; three grandsons, Landon Wilson and wife Raven of Tylertown, MS., Ron Wilson and wife Keri of Summit, MS.; and Dr. Chet Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK.; three great-grandsons Mason Wilson of Tylertown, Evan Wilson of Tylertown, and Amos Patrick Wilson of Summit; two great-granddaughters Claudia Rose Wilson of Summit, and Ivy Frances Wilson of Summit.
We will have a celebration of Ms. Claudine's life, Monday, October 4, 2021 at Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty, MS. with visitation at 9:00 A.M. and funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the church, officiated by Rev. Alton Foster. Lunch and a time of fellowship will follow in the Church Fellowship Center. Interment will then be at Springhill Baptist Church Cemetery in Copiah County in the Martinsville Community.
