Obituary

Edward Jerry Waller, 83, of Crosby, MS, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 20, 2018, at his home after losing his battle with Parkinson's Disease.  He was comforted by his loving family members who were at his bedside and by others who were with him in sprit and prayer. Born on December 31, 1934, in Amite County, Mississippi, he was the third of four children born to Delos Clinton and Cola Pugh Waller.  Jerry lived the majority of his life in his beloved Amite County, Mississippi.  He attended Oxford School but left prior to graduation to work and help support his family.  He later earned a GED. Jerry proudly served for several years in the Mississippi Army National Guard and was considered by all who knew him to be an American patriot.

After surrendering his life to Christ, Jerry spent much time studying the Bible and enjoyed hearing the message of Christ preached.  He was a member the Gloster Assembly of God Church.  Jerry worked for Brown Funeral Home at one time but was most well known as a manager of several local service stations in those days when attendants really did take care of their customers.  For several years he and his two older brothers owned and operated Waller Brothers Service Station in Gloster.

Jerry was a very outgoing person and had a great love of bluegrass music and art.  He was a talented acoustic guitar musician and often played the guitar at church and taught many people how to play their first few chords.  Jerry enjoyed the comradery of singing favorite country music songs with his brother Wren and other community musicians. He was a talented landscape artist and creative sign painter. His love of music and art lives on in his children and grandchildren— many of whom play musical instruments and pursue artistic talents.  Spending quality time with family and friends and enjoying the company of his little dog, Sassy, were favorite entertainments in later years as his illness progressed.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Delos and Cola Waller, his eldest brother, Earl Waller of Gloster, his maternal grandparents William Samuel and Marry Emma Guy Pugh of Yazoo City, and paternal grandparents, Henry W. and Sheddie Rollinson Waller of Liberty, MS.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Deborah Davis Waller of Crosby, MS.  Also mourning their loss are:  his daughter Cindy Lou Bridges (Billy) of Brandon,  his daughter Susan Desiree Hart (Keith) of Wesson, his son, Edward Alan Waller of Gloster and two step-daughters, Stephanie Lopez of McComb and Michelle Hastings of Gloster.  Jerry was blessed to have ten grandchildren.  They are: Candace Caston, Paige Caston Corona, Anthony Lopez, Adrian Lopez, David D. Owens IV, Jerry Kyle Owens, Lyndsay Caston Powell, Anna Caston Robinson, Edward Waller,Jr., & Kathryn Waller.   He also cherished eight great-grandchildren.  They are:  Benjamin Alford, Jolie Bergman, Zaxton Carona, Liam Craft, Jolie Robinson, Lauren Robinson, Madeline Robinson, & Ava Waller.  Jerry also leaves behind an older brother Wren Waller (Evelyn), a younger sister Jean Waller McIntyre (Donald), a sister-in-law Lena Bell Waller, all of Gloster.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends also mourn his passing.

Jerry will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  His influence on our hearts and lives will not be forgotten.  Our sad loss is Heaven's eternal gain.
