Elizabeth Charlene
Shuckrow
d. Nov 15, 2024
Liberty
On the 15th day of November in the year of our Lord 2024, Elizabeth Charlene Fitzhugh Combs Shuckrow passed on from this life. Just as she enjoyed in life, she was surrounded by family and friends.
Charlene as she was known, was born in Crosby, Ms. On May 6th, 1953, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fitzhugh. She attended school in Crosby until she graduated from Franklin County High School in 1971.
Shortly thereafter she met a fella by the name of Paul Wayne Combs, and the pair were married in June of 1972. Little did they know it, but this started a forty-two-year adventure until Paul Wayne's passing in 2014.
In those years she became a mother. First to Paul Wayne Combs II. You all know him as Wayne, the even more handsome replica of his father. In later years Charlene would go on to say how easy Wayne was to raise. He was the perfect child. A few years later Jodi Lee Combs was introduced into the world (and one can't help but wonder why) and Charlene's little world was complete. That is until Jodi met Adrian Smith, and they introduced Ben Smith into the world, and Charlene claimed her best accomplishment and title: Nana. In an attempt to remain relevant, Wayne made her a two-time Nana bringing Alyssa Combs into the fold. Avery Smith was added to her over filling heart, and finally Louie Walley came along and completed her entourage until the arrival of her Great Grandchild Henry Wayne Taylor.
Charlene also had other interest. She attended Copiah Lincoln Community College while working and with a family at home, achieving a degree in Cosmetology. After several years of making the residents of Roxie, MS look fabulous, she went to work at the Bank of Franklin where she was employed for over 25 years until her retirement.
Just when she was thinking that all was winding down, along came Gordon "Butch" Shuckrow Jr. With his handsome looks and charming wit, he quickly swept off her feet and married, keeping her heart full of love and joy until her passing.
Charlene was preceded in death by Father Charles Fitzhugh, Mother Lonnie Crum, Stepfather Roy Crum, Brother Jimmy Lloyd Meyers, and husband Paul Wayne Combs.
She is survived by her husband Butch Shuckrow, Sons, Wayne Combs and wife Tish, Darrin Reel, Gordon Shuckrow and wife Kristi, and James Shuckrow. Daughter Jodi and husband Adrian.
Grandchildren Ben and Avery Smith, Alyssa Combs, Louie Walley, Emily and Zayda Shuckrow.
Great Grandchildren Henry Wayne Taylor, Leti and J.P. Parker, Emberly and Lillian Parker.
A grand host of nieces and nephews all of which she treated like her own. Among these is one very special niece, but more of a daughter, Edwina Crowe. During the last few weeks of Charlene's life were rather difficult. These days were made tolerable by the selfless efforts of Edwina, and we know Charlene was well taken care of, and loved. Hoke and Ms. Daisy rode one last time.
