Ernestine W. Lewis passed away Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the West Carroll Hospital in Oak Grove, Louisiana. She was 94 years old, born September 30, 1930 in Amite County, Mississippi. She was the daughter of Ernest Bryant Wilkinson and Doll Van Norman Wilkinson.
Ernestine married Lynwood Lewis on January 11, 1963. She worked in the family business at Lewis Parts but her favorite job was loving and supporting her family. Her family always left her home filled with love, a coke from the back fridge, and food for the road (typically her amazing pound cake). She was a loving mother to her 3 children, a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a great great grandmother.
She was a longtime member of Plymouth Primitive Baptist Church which she loved dearly.
Those left to mourn her death, but also to celebrate her life are two children, daughter Sharon McGraw Littlefield (Blaine), and son Richard Lynn Lewis (Monnisa); grandchildren Heather Lynn Best (Michael), Tracie Lane Littlefield Sweat, Mackenzie Lewis Creamer (Tyler), Jared Mark McGraw (Cori), and Dennis Michael Levite (Becca); great grandchildren Hannah Best Putman (Wade), Rae Best Corley (Cayden), Aubrey Lane Sweat, and Corbin Quinn Sweat; great-great grandchildren Evelyn Lily Putman and Miles Maverick Phenton McGraw; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents Ernest Bryant Wilkinson and Doll Van Norman Wilkinson; husbands Howard P. McGraw Jr. and Lynwood Lewis; son Howard Keith McGraw; sister Mary Elaine Smith; and brothers Paul Wilkinson and Malcolm Wilkinson.
Visitation is Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Plymouth Primitive Baptist Church, from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. The service will be officiated by Elder Dub Hatten, Elder Harvey Bates, and Elder Robert Adam. Graveside services will follow at Roseland Cemetery in Gloster, Mississippi.
Pallbearers are Michael Best, Cayden Corley, Tyler Creamer, Michael Levite, Mark McGraw, and Wade Putman.
