Estelle McKey McGehee, 91, of Liberty, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2019 at her residence in Liberty.
Mrs. Estelle was retired from the Amite County Department of Human Services where she served in Liberty and Gloster as a food stamp clerk among other duties during her 30 years of employment.
In addition to her devotion to family, she was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church, serving as director of the shut-in program for many years, and especially enjoying her time with the Sweet Spirit Singers; she also enjoyed longtime service with the Amite County American Legion Auxillary, Chapter 77 of the Order of the Eastern Star; and the Liberty TOPS Club.
Mrs. Estelle was preceded in death by her parents, Troy Lee McKey, Sr. and Winnie Tumey McKey; one son, Gerald McGehee; two sisters, Tessie Davis and Dorothy Rowe; one grandson, Brian Brecheen and one son-in-law, Hilton Pittman.
She is survived by her husband, Tate McGehee: four children, CliAnn Pittman Griffin and husband Thomas, Bernell McGehee and wife Susan, Mary Brecheen and husband Nathan, and Winnie Brecheen and husband Orland; and daughter-in-law Delphine McGehee; eleven grandchildren and their spouses, Brina Leroux and Gilles, Amy Pittman and Patrick Reeves, Geoffrey Pittman and Alexandra, Page Goff and Mickey, Mandy Scarpulla and Stephen, Cary McGehee and Jennifer, Scott McGehee and Mindy, Candice Burkes and Cole, Idalia Sterling and Brad, Clay Brecheen Jr. and Mallory, Meloanie Nettles and Cory; eighteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Gertrude Pemberton, one brother, Troy Lee McKey Jr., and one brother-in-law Paul McGehee.
Visitation is Friday, March 8, 2019 at Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty, MS. from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. then continuing from 9:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church. Officiated by Rev. James Sadler. Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Clay Brecheen Jr., Cary McGehee, and Geoffrey Pittman; and grandsons-in-law, Mickey Goff, Cole Burkes, and Brad Sterling. Honorary Pallbearers are grandson, Scott McGehee and grandson-in-laws Stephen Scarpulla, Cory Nettles, and Patrick Reeves.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in memorial, to Youth Fund, Liberty Baptist Church, P.O. Box 73, Liberty, MS. 39645, or to Girls Camp Fund, Amite County American Legion Auxiliary, P.O. Box 512, Liberty, MS. 39645.
