Gary Lane Mitchell of Gloster, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Field Health Systems in Centreville, MS.

He was 62, born September 18, 1963 to Soule Mitchell and Frances Whittington Mitchell. He was a Mill Wright.

Gary is preceded in death by his father Soule Mitchell, mother Frances Mitchell, 2 brother-in-laws Randy Pendergraft and Terry Thibodeaux.

He is survived by son Dustin Mitchell (Anna), granddaughter Evelyn Mitchell, daughter Renae Dixon (James), 3 sisters Debbie Walters (Mike), Beth Pendergraft, Wendy Thibodeaux, and Laurel Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews.

Gary loved nature.  He loved fishing, hunting, camping, bonfires and music. He was great at being able to survive on his own in nature. He was also able to fix or build things he wanted.  He loved his family and friends. He would help his family or friends with anything he could.

He was loved and will be greatly missed.

Visitation is Tuesday June 23, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, MS. from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12:00 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Collins Branch Cemetery near Gloster.

Paul bearers are Dustin Mitchell, Beth Pendergraft, Mark Pendergraft, Landon Watts, Jeremy Pendergraft, and Ty Thibodeaux.
