Obituary

Gerald Malone McGuire , 88, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS. following a life well lived.

Mr. McGuire was born August 4, 1929, in Memphis, TN to Thomas L. and Willie McGuire. Gerald was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, storyteller, friend to many, and stranger to no one. He leaves behind a loving family saddened by his loss, but grateful for the time they had with him. He had a lifelong love of fishing, big family cookouts, spoiling his grandchildren, Ole Miss, and New Orleans Saints football. Gerald joined the service at age 16, having his parents sign permission to serve his country in Army Engineers following WWII. Returning from the service he became a long haul truck driver and could recount every town and city he had traveled to, and how to get there. With a wonderful sense of humor, a passion for storytelling, and his experiences in life and on the road, he made people laugh and feel at ease.  Most recently, he was also known as the Mayor of Liberty Community Living Center, serving as their Disc Jockey, master of Bingo, and many other fun activities for the residents.

He leaves, the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Campbell McGuire; sons, Mickey McGuire (Brenda) and Gerald Malone McGuire II (Kim); daughters, Charlotte McGuire Reynolds (Ronnie) and Sandra McGuire Guest (Ron); grandsons, Michael McGuire, Brian McGuire, Ron Reynolds (Tanya), Will McGuire (Gina), and Sam Guest; granddaughters, Brandy Fredette and Claire Guest Lowe (Jody); great-grandsons, Troy Fredette, Christopher McGuire, Matthew McGuire, Joshua McGuire, Luke Fredette, Wyatt, Terry Lee, and William Thomas McGuire, Jr; great-granddaughters, Leigh Claire McGuire, Jamie Claire Fredette, Madi Kate Wallace, Ember, Mary Hollis Lowe, and Mila Auden McGuire; sisters, Marceline Johnson and Martha Finnan (Dan); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas L and Willie McGuire; brothers, William Thomas "Mickey" McGuire and James F McGuire; sisters, Mary McGuire DePoister, Willie McGuire Blaylock, June McGuire Spieghts, and Neva McGuire Smith.
Visitation will be Friday from 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, MS and again on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at Liberty Baptist Church on Main Street until services begin there at 11:00 A.M.
