Jean was born on May 30, 1929 to Ida Spurgon Meason and Eric Hugh Meason in Essex County, England. Jean was 95 years old and had the good fortune to have lead a full and wonderful life.
Her parents, Ida and Eric, had four children, John, Alec, Jean and Wendy. Jean's family lived close to London and during World War II and she, along with her brothers John and Alec, went to live in Lancashire County with families willing to take in children for the duration of the war. Jean and her brothers lived with Mr. John Smith and family, who owned a farm and treated the Meason children like part of their family. They all had very happy memories of living on the farm and farm life in Lancashire County. The Meason children reunited with their parents and little sister, and after the war returned to Braintree and Colchester, Essex, England.
After school, Jean began working in the office of a local factory doing clerical work. Through mutual friends, Jean was introduced to Sargent Alton Travis Eastwood, from Gloster, Mississippi, USA who was a medic at RAF Station Weathersfield, Essex, England. Jean and Travis quickly fell in love and married. In 1957, Travis and Jean transferred to Vance Air Force Base in Oklahoma where their family expanded with the birth of their only child, Jeffrey Alton Eastwood.
