Jerry L. Cupit of Bogue Chitto and Gloster, MS., passed from this earth Friday, February 2, 2024 at Pinnacle Hospice in Baton Rouge, LA., at the age of 77.

Jerry was born November 6, 1946 to John and Mary Cupit, at the McComb Infirmary.

He started his career with after school jobs. Later at the age of 21, Jerry joined the Baton Rouge City Police. Later he became the owner of a service station in Brookhaven, MS., and after that he opened a fish and bait business. Jerry's last venture was an over the road truck driver, which gave him a chance to meet and make many friends. He never met a stranger. Later in his retirement years he enjoyed some traveling with his wife, who he lovingly referred to as "MS. Peggy".

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents John and Mary Cupit; brothers Wayne, Murray, and Michael Cupit.

He is survived by his wife Peggy; a daughter Karen and Cecil Barton; two sons Reuben and Ethan Cupit; three brothers John Ellis Cupit and Genie,  Allen Cupit, and James Cupit; grandchhildren Hunter Martin, Abigail Gabriel, Maya and Declan Cupit; three stepsons Rick, Chris, and Tommy. Also surviving are special friends Irene and David Beard, whom have helped getting Jerry to his Doctor appointments and moral supporters.

The family would like to thank the Trauma Team at Our Lady Of Lake and Pinnacle Hospice, that made this journey easier for us.

Jerry was of the Messianic Judaism Faith. He loved studying the scripture and sharing with his friends and strangers.

He will be missed by his wife who he loved dearly and his children.

Visitation will be Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, MS., from 10:00am until time of funeral services at 11:00am. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery, Liberty, MS. on Greensburg Road. Brother Curtis Ready will be officiating.

Pallbearers are Dr.Charles Davenport, David Beard, Hunter Martin, Ethan Cupit, Gabe Burnett, and Aaron Burnett.
