Joe Steele, 86, lifelong resident of Liberty, Mississippi, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Southwest Regional Medical Center in McComb, MS.

He was born March 23, 1932, the son of V.O. Steele and Claudie Wilkinson Steele.  He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church near Gloster, MS. Joe loved deer  and  turkey hunting and watching football games. He worked out of town as a heavy equipment operator and then returned to Liberty and operated a backhoe service,  and worked for the Town of Liberty.

Joe is survived by his wife, Charlotte Steele;   his daughter, Theresa Steele Duck and her husband Clayton;   one brother John Steele;  two sisters, Darnell Causey and husband  Weslie, and Esther Rowell;  three grandchildren, Clay Duck and wife Haley, Dan Duck, and Will Waldrop;  two great grandchildren,  Bryston Duck  and  Keegan Duck, and a host of Nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents,  his first wife Ruby Gordon Steele, a sister, Elouise Tynes, a son Jimmie Dale Steele, and a daughter Karen Whittington Waldrop.

Visitation is Thursday, July 26, 2018 at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, MS. from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, at the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Blaine Stafford and Dr. Dennis Johnsey.   Interment will follow in Liberty Cemetery.
