Joe R. Thomas, loving husband and father and lifelong resident of Gloster, MS, passed away on May 27, 2023.  He was born January 27, 1951, to George and Margie Thomas.  He was a master carpenter and skilled marksman. He also loved to hunt and fish.  He learned his carpentry skills from his father and used those skills to build his own business and provide for his family.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 29th , from 5:00 to 8:00pm and 10:00am on Tuesday, May 30th, until the time of service at 11:00am in the Brown Funeral Home Chapel, Gloster, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings; David Lee Thomas, George "Red" Thomas, Lynn Biggs, Yvonne Davis, and Reggie Thomas.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Wanda Dunn Thomas; daughters, Julie Etheridge (Rusty) of New Blaine, AR and Amy Charrier (Artellis) of Centreville, MS.  Seven grandchildren; Kristine Keller, Megan Hensley, Joseph Etheridge, Slade Spillman, T.J. Spillman, John Charrier, and Heather Keith, and nine great-grandchildren.  Siblings; Katherine Davis (Irvin), Herbert Thomas (Darlene), Ross Thomas (Theresa), James Thomas (Darlene N.), Mike Thomas (Myra).

Pallbearers are as follows: Slade Spillman, Joseph Etheridge, T.J. Spillman, Aaron Keith, James Keller, and Trip Hensley. Honorary pallbearers are John Charrier and Brandon Causey.
