John Dudley Ashley,  former resident of Wilkinson County, Mississippi, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. John was born December 27, 1929, in Buffalo, Mississippi,  the son of John Wesley Ashley and Juanita Netterville  Ashley.

Soon after his marriage to his "sweetheart from the first grade",  Bobbye June Carter, John began four years of military service at Keesler Air Force Base. After his discharge from the Air Force, he began a forty-year  civil service career in electronics and missile systems,  working in Mississippi, Kentucky, South Korea,  retiring from Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama.

John was an avid bird hunter, gardener, and fixer of everything!   His passion for knowing the Bible and sharing his deep belief in God was evident to all who knew him. Like his mother, John was a serious Bible student and admired others who were honest students.  Every family member anticipated his Bible questions and  were always challenged.

He is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Bobbye Carter Ashley:  two sons, Tim Ashley and wife Pam and Mark Ashley and wife Sarah; brother Billy Joe Ashley and wife Patsy;  five grandchildren, Ty Ashley and wife Brittany,   Katy Ashley Orr and husband Lucas,  Amber Ashley, David Ashley and wife Katie, and Elizabeth Ashley Peregrin and husband Daniel; and eight great-grandchildren, Sam, Silas,  Smith, Lilly,  Anna, and Abby Ashley; Carter Orr, and Luke Peregrin.

John was preceded in death by,  his parents,  John W. Ashley and Juanita Netterville Ashley.

Visitation is Thursday, June 7, 2018, at Corinth Church of Christ from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the church.   Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Woodville, MS.

Pallbearers are Ty Ashley, David Ashley, Jerry Geter, Austin Cavin,  Charlie Netterville,  Justin Cavin.
