John Robert Steele of Sugar Land, Texas, passed away on April 30, 2019. John was born in Amite County, Mississippi on June 8, 1928. He was a loving family man who enjoyed spending time with his family and serving God as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher. He will be greatly missed by his family. John graduated with a degree in math from the University of Southern Mississippi. He retired from Texas Eastern Transmission Company after thirty years as the manager of computer systems. He was a pioneer in his field and enjoyed working with people from all over the world. He is preceded in death by his wife Kathryn. John and Kathryn together left a legacy of two children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Their two children are daughter, Kathy Steele Harris and her husband Mark Harris, and son Jeffery Steel and his wife Melissa Steele; grandchildren are Kimberly Harris Dean, Jonathan Harris, Justin Steele, Jackson Steele, and Daniella Steele. Great grandchildren are Kaia Harris, Jaylen Molinos and Khole Dean. John was one of five children born to Claudie and V.O. Steele. He is survived by his two sisters, Darnell Causey and Esther Rowell. Services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of Gloster, Mississippi on May 11, 2019 at 3:00 P.M.
