John D. Van Norman, 80, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona.
John was born on July 17, 1942, at the family home in Liberty, Mississippi to Roland and Virgie
(Hilliard) Van Norman. John was the youngest of seven children. After graduating from Liberty
High School, John enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served from 1960 to 1963.
After being discharged from the Army, John remained in Washington state. It was here, where
he would spend a large part of his life. John started Advertising Services (a digital pre-press
business) which he ran successfully from 1970 to 2008. He met Ann Paulsen, of Seattle, and the
two married on May 24, 1986. During his time in Seattle, John began playing golf and
developed a love for the game. John and Ann moved to Arizona in 2000 to pursue his life
passion of golf. John was immensely proud of his family and being a Mississippi boy. He will be
deeply missed.
John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ann; three grandchildren, Zach, Shae, and Courtni
(Darrien); two great grandchildren, Luna and Paxton; brothers, Wade Van Norman of Tucson, AZ
and Rick (Marie) Van Norman of Smithdale, MS; sister, Mary Crittenden of Harrisonburg, VA;
many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roland; mother, Virgie; his beloved daughter, Vicki Van
Norman; brother, Glen Van Norman; sisters, Hazel Van Norman and Cora Gibson; great
Granddaughter, River.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00am on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at the Enterprise Baptist
Church in Liberty, MS, with the Pastor Shan Van Norman officiating. Visitation will be held at
the church from 10am until time of the service. Interment will follow in Enterprise Cemetery.
