Karen
Kirkland
d. Sep 13, 2024
Liberty
Karen Dale Kirkland of Liberty, MS, left behind these earthly constraints and came face to face with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, September 13th, 2024. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her family.
Karen was born January 2nd, 1959 in Centreville ,MS, the firstborn daughter of Warren and Edith Kirkland, both who precede her in death.
Karen was a beautiful soul inside and out. She was kind and quick with a smile. She was also without a doubt in love with Jesus Christ and he came before everything else. Karen gave a beautiful witness and spoke Christ over her family, friends and strangers. If ever given an opportunity, Karen would tell you about her Lord and how to be saved. She was a devoted granddaughter, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and cousin, but her most treasured roles in her life was being a mother to Adrienne and grandmother to Reed. She loved them both with every bit of love she had to give and as a gift from the Lord Reed has the heart and love of Christ that she had. Karen had a love of flowers and plants and could name almost any plant. When she was able to get outside, you would often find her planting bulbs, picking bouquets or repotting plants to put on her porch. She also loved her pets, she had a dog named Kiki that she doted on like a child, Kiki is buried in a special place beside her home. She had a Himalayan and two doll faced Persians cats that she had wanted since she was a young girl. She also had 3 rescue cats. She treated these cats like her babies and often said they were family and a great comfort to her. She was the most thoughtful gift giver ever. Even if money was tight, she would study and strive to find the perfect gift. She took personality, hobbies, favorite colors and things that the person loved all into account and what she gave was always the perfect gift. She wanted to watch the person open the gift because she wanted to see their reaction, giving was her favorite thing.
Karen was a Barber Stylist for 40 years and had a phenomenal work ethic, she never missed work and was never late for work even if she was ill. When she cut and styled your hair, it was perfect, she was truly gifted. She was also a fantastic cook, and since her father was diabetic, she always made a special sweet treat for every holiday that he could eat. Her broccoli salad, Cole slaw, pear salad and deviled eggs were a staple for our family. When trials and tribulations came her way, Karen always turned to the Word, She clung tightly to our Lord. She might have been overwhelmed for a while, but with Jesus with her,she always rose up again. There were moments with her illness when her mind wasn't clear, she would sometimes become confused about people or places, but not once in two and a half years did she ever become confused about Christ. She called on him in her best and worst moments.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Willie and Etta Kirkland and Earl and Maggie Mincy.
She is survived by her daughter, Adrienne Baham, grandson Reed Thompson, sisters, Loren Kirkland and Angela Kirkland Jones, nephews, Zach Jones and Trent Jones, a special cousin and caregiver, Frances Kirkland Bailey, a lifelong best friend Denise Bates Favors, a special friend and caregiver Victoria Gabriel and a host of cousins who she loved dearly.
