Obituary

L.H. Boykin, 87, passed away Wednesday February 21, 2024 at his residence in Franklin, LA.

He was born October 3, 1936, in Amite County, Mississippi, to Elwood Boykin and Vassar Dawson Boykin.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        He attended Crosby High School. After graduating, he married Charlotte Perry. After serving in the U.S. Army he moved to Morgan City, LA. in 1962.  L.H. worked for McDermott Fabrication for thirty-six years before retiring. L.H. enjoyed hunting, building furniture, and shrimping on the boat that he built "Captain Slim".

He is survived by two sons Dale Boykin and wife Donna; five sisters Veronica Plaisance and husband Sidney, Tealo Toney and husband Murray, Scarlet Collier, Mary Carol Bonck, and Terry Boykin; one brother Jerry Boykin and wife Debbie; four grandchildren Aaron Ortego, JR., Kristen MacNeill, Ashley Boykin, and Hunter Boykin; two great grandchildren Landon MacNeill and Hudson MacNeill.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elwood Boykin and Vassar Dawson Boykin, his wife Charolette Perry Boykin, one sister Linda Freeman, two brothers Gavin Boykin and Kermit "Sonny" Boykin.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Brown Funeral Home Gloster, MS., from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. Visitation will resume Monday, February 26, 2024, 9:00am until time of funeral service at 10:00am at Brown Funeral Home. Reverend Warren Whitaker, JR. will be officiating. Interment will follow at Mars Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers; Dan Perry, Adam Perry, Patrick Morrison, Jeremy Boykin, Bennett Rogers, and Alton Boone.
