Lois Fay Jones Bates, a resident of Liberty, Mississippi, passed away May 23, 2020 at Inspired Living in Lewisville, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Lois was born August 4, 1933 in Stavley Alberta, Canada to James Henry Jones and Hazel Pauline McDaniel Jones. Our sweet Lois wore many hats and chose many career paths, first and foremost, she was a caregiver. Foster mom to some, Grandmother Lois to all. She lived her life with warmth and grace, opening her heart and home to countless children who were lost and in need of love and support. She was a world traveler, touring the globe with Walt Disney on Ice, leaving pieces of her sweet spirit everywhere she went. She never met a stranger and always had a kind word and an intriguing story for anyone willing to listen. Her stories will be missed immensely but will forever live on in our hearts. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for more than 80 years, she taught her Sunday School classes to choose the right and love one another without exception. She cared deeply for her family, friends, and neighbors. She did this not out of obligation, but because of who she was. She is survived by her sister Myrtle Breaux; her three remaining children and their spouses; Denise Favors and husband Bobby Favors, Scott Bates and spouse Carole Morneau Bates, and Robbie Gloden and spouse Calvin Golden; six grandchildren, Maja Matthews, Margo Tanton, Rodney Bates, Rachel Williams, Wesley Bates, and Dominic Bates; three greatgrandchildren, William Matthews, Emma Matthews, and Paladin Baxter, along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.
