Lynn
Poole
d. Mar 5, 2025
Gloster
Jerry "Lynn" Poole Sr, passed away peacefully on March 5th, 2025 at the age of 90. Lynn, or as so many knew him, Pappy, was born on April 17th, 1934 to Bonnie and Taylor Poole. He was born in Amite County, Mississippi where he lived his entire life. He attended school in Crosby, MS and married his wife, Agnes Mullins Poole, in 1953.
Lynn was a man of many trades throughout his life and met various friends throughout each journey. In his younger years he was a milk truck driver, photographer, a coffee delivery truck driver, and a little league coach. Mid-life he was known for selling and installing satellite dishes, repairing golf carts, and spending afternoons and weekends on the local golf courses. Later in life he enjoyed logging, operating his sawmill, and working in his woodshop. However his trades came and went his passion for singing in church and leading worship service always remained.
He was constantly on the go,and working with his hands. Whether he was reloading bullets, sharpening saw blades, building bird houses, or taking apart whatever new gadget or equipment he just purchased to "make it better". He loved hunting, and bringing home his wild game for Agnes to cook. He loved riding around on his side-by-side. He loved to watch the Atlanta Braves on TV while eating popcorn and drinking slimfast, and loved a good laugh. He loved when his house was full of family, and loved when they eased out the door so he could get in HIS chair for an afternoon nap. But mostly, he loved Jesus and the brotherhood of Christ he embraced all of his adult life.
Lynn and Agnes were always eager to help others, whether this was by manual labor or spending time for someone else, they were generous with their assistance. Pappy enjoyed frequent home-cooked meals but was often the first to find an unwanted piece of cornsilk, bean string, or shell. He would chuckle and say "whoever eats the most finds the most".
Married over 70 years to Agnes, they never spent a night apart from one another, even simultaneously moving into the Nursing Home to share a room over the last year. They were truly soulmates and a testament to love and commitment we have all taken many lessons from throughout the years.
Always willing to correct someone, but eager to fervently pray for them and their family. He liked to send early morning text messages and make calls to family and friends to check on them. He wanted to ensure those he cared about were on the straight and narrow, safe and healthy. Although in recent years his memory often failed him, he never forgot his family and was always joyful for a short visit and a few laughs. He was sincere and honest to a fault, genuine and steadfast, and will be terribly missed by his family and friends.
Lynn is survived by his wife Agnes Poole, son David Clayton Poole Sr., daughter Linda Diane Farrugia (Pete), grandsons David Clayton Poole Jr. (SuAnn) and Barclay Alan Poole, granddaughter Brandi Poole Flanagan (Chris), ten great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bonnie and Taylor Poole, son Jerry Lynn Poole Jr, brother Jennings Poole, sisters Cleo Huff, Louise Noble, and Tera Fitzgerald.
Visitation is Friday, March 7, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, MS. from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Saturday March 8, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Reggie Forman.
