Murray Higgins, 90, native of Liberty, Mississippi, and resident of Livingston, La., passed away Monday August 26, 2024 at Belle Maison Nursing and Rehab Center in Hammond, La.

Murray was born September 2,1933 in Liberty, MS. the son of Willie James Higgins Sr. and Nora Mae Smith Higgins.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  He worked in Baton Rouge, LA., employed by Baton Rouge City Police, and later with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 198.

Murray was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter Susie Edler and her husband Wayne Edler; two grandchildren Haley Edler and Nicholas Edler; and brother Jerry Higgins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie James Higgins Sr. and Nora Mae Smith; first wife Winnie Higgins, second wife Nellie Rogers Higgins; two daughters Reita Gail Higgins and Melissa Ann Soulier; five brothers Phillip Higgins, James Higgins Jr., Glen Higgins, Ben Higgins, and Frank Higgins; and sister Norma Jean Lester.

Visitation is Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, MS. from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Higgins Cemetery.
