Naomi Early Cahoon Brown, age 101, of Cherokee, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020. The visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, Mississippi, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with the service to follow at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery.
Naomi was a native of Bay Springs, Mississippi and was active in the Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Naomi retired from the Baptist Book Store and enjoyed such hobbies as home making, sewing, dress making, quilting, and taking care of children. She was known for cooking the best fried chicken in the world! Naomi is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Early; son, Johnny Ray Cahoon; grandchild, Christy LaShay Cahoon Kelso; brothers, Rex Horrace Early, Carmen Early, Travis Lindsey Early, and John Mat Early; and her sister, Maudine Early Gossett.
Naomi is survived by her children, James Battle Cahoon (Lovana), Cherokee, Alabama, Mary Jo Cahoon Morrissey (John W.), New Orleans, Louisiana, and Stephen Early Cahoon (Kymberley Jean Louie) Richmond, California; grandchildren, James Battle Cahoon, III (Theresa) Cherokee, Alabama, John W. Morrissey (Ann), Washington, D.C., Mary Elizabeth Morrissey Wooridge (Donald), New Orleans, Louisiana, Bonnie Lagraize (Scott), New Orleans, Louisianna, Shawn Marie Cahoon Helton, Daphne, Alabama, Stephen Early Cahoon, Jr., Mobile, Alabama, Samuel Gunnar Cahoon, Ireland, and Hannah Lisa Cahoon, Navato, California; sisters, Florine Lassiter, Moss Point, Mississippi, Laverne Early Thomas, Mobile, Alabama, and Mary Evelyn Early Martin, Baldwin County, Alabama. Naomi was the beloved mother of 5 generations with 19 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Due to the Covid-19, we request that you wear a mask and practice social distancing while inside the building. If you have one or more of the symptoms, or just feel bad, we respectfully ask you not to attend the services.
