Obituary

Norman Harry "Norm" Butler, 89, passed away June 11, 2019 in Yakima, Washington.  He was born February 24, 1930, in Tupelo, Mississippi, the son of Nathan D. and Maye Etta Bryant Butler. He married Mary Elizabeth Leflore on the 15 th of July, 1948 in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  Norman graduated from Mize High School in 1948. After almost two decades as a newspaper man, he returned to school. Norman graduated from Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon in 1960 with a Doctor of Optometry Degree.   Norman practiced in Carson City, Nevada and remained there until his retirement at which time he relocated to Ellensburg, Washington. Norman was a past president of the Carson City, Nevada Lions Club and a member of the Ellensburg Lions Club.nNorman is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Edward Conroy of Ewing, NJ; his son and daughter-in-law Douglas and Debbie Butler of Ellensburg, WA, and his daughter and son-in-law Penny Butler and Mark Lichtenthaier of Carlton, Oregon; two grandsons, Edward Charles Conroy and wife Karen of Fayetteville, NC; and Nathan Butler of Ellensburg, WA; and one great-granddaughter Brianna Conroy of Fayetteville, NC.  Funeral services will be held at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty, MS., June 20, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Tate Family Cemetery in Gillsburg, MS.
