Obituary

Ollie P. Cavin Phipps, 84, of the Crooked Creek Community, Crosby, MS, joined her heavenly family on August 1, 2024, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, McComb, MS.

Ms Phipps was born November 8, 1939, to Leon Claude and Evelyn Netterville Cavin in Wilkinson, MS.  She married William Levell Phipps on October 28, 1958. They had four sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons: Charles Norman Phipps and Cavin Boyd Phipps, four brothers: Claude, Clyde, John L., and Ned Cavin.

Survivors are sons William L. Phipps, Jr, and Herschel Leon Phipps and dear friend Tammy Milton, one grandson William L. Phipps, III, one sister-in-law Virginia Cavin, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are her nephews Kenny, Justin, Nolan, Austin, Wally, Edwin, Mark, Carl Ray, and Doug Cavin.

Ollie was a lifelong member of the Perrytown and Corinth Churches of Christ.

Ollie was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many, but most will remember her as being a very high energy, multitalented, fun-loving woman. She was never bored, always in a big project that most people half her age wouldn't tackle.  To list all of her talents would be impossible, but just a few of her accomplishments and interests were: quilting and knitting, (she made quilts for gifts to so many), cooking and sharing recipes, gardening, woodworking, raising cattle (as well as a large variety of animals, teaching her parakeets to talk, and collecting antique stuff. Her work-life found just as large of a variety as she was once in charge of the WCCA cafeteria, a bus driver, a prison guard at Angola State Prison, an accomplished taxidermist, and owned Sam's Long Distance Cargo escort service traveling all over the United States.
