Opal Lea Johnston, 85, longtime resident of Liberty, MS., passed away at her residence on Monday, October 31, 2022.

She was born May 8, 1937 to Clayton Jackson and Lottie Hollingsworth Jackson. Over her life she worked for the Kellwood Company, Eden Industries, Buffalo Services, and later retired as the switch board operator with the Georgia Pacific plywood plant in Gloster, MS. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

She is survived be her husband of 67 years, Robert Johnston; two sons, Ronnie Johnston, and Mike Johnston and Becky; two grandchildren, Heather Jackson and Tyler Jackson; two sisters, Carolyn Netterville, and Martha Gearld and Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Clayton Jackson and Lottie Hollingsworth Jackson; and one brother in-law Gordon Netterville.

Visitation will be Friday, November 4, 2022, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church from 9:30am until time of funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, officiated by

Rev. Zach Smith and Rev. Blaine Stafford. Interment will follow in Mount Pleasant Memorial Cemetery, Gloster, MS.

Pallbearers are Roger Brumfield, Michael Foreman, Tyler Jackson, Chuck Netterville, John Newman, and Joey Swearingen.
