Obituary

Shawn Kevin Dauzat, age fifty-one, of the Denham Springs/Watson, Louisiana area joined his mother and father in heaven on February 8th, 2026, following a tragic incident in Liberty, Mississippi.

Shawn was born on August 18th, 1974, in Marksville, Louisiana to proud parents, George and Betty Dauzat. In 1982, the family relocated to Angola, Louisiana, where George and Betty worked. Shawn and his older brother, Wayne, attended the local public school, and spent their days hunting, fishing, and playing baseball. Alongside his love for the outdoors, Shawn always had a love and appreciation for all types of music throughout his life.

In the mid-1990s, Shawn began working on tugboats as a deck hand, and after a couple of years, pursued his pilot license. Once he earned his license, Shawn drove tugboats moving products through commercial waterways all over, from Houston, Texas to Mobile, Alabama, and even as far north as St. Louis, Missouri. He advanced throughout different companies as a Port Captain, and eventually landing a position with Turn Services, where he was still working currently. Through Turn Services, Shawn was responsible for the daily function and excess of twenty tugboats, supervising hundreds of crew members and staff, and overseeing the movement of millions of dollars of products daily.

Shawn would go on to marry the love of his life, Melissa "Missy" Patton, in the spring of 2005, after a period of courtship and engagement. Shawn and Missy shared twenty-one beautiful years together in Denham Springs, Louisiana, and welcomed one son, Joseph "Caleb" Dauzat on October 30th, 2009, to complete their family. Shawn and Missy's recent plans were to relocate to Liberty, Mississippi area, to pursue their dream of operating a family farm.

Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, father George Dauzat and mother Betty Dauzat. He is survived by his wife, Melissa "Missy" Patton Dauzat, son Joseph "Caleb" Dauzat; brother Wayne Dauzat (Michele) of Homer, Louisiana; and a host of relatives by marriage, distant relatives, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Outside of his outstanding career, Shawn spent his days hunting, fishing, and embracing everything the outdoors had to offer, usually alongside his oldest and best friend, Kevin Aime. He was a kind, loving, man, and a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. Shawn will be honored with a memorial service surrounded by friends and family.
