Shelton
Whittington
d. May 10, 2024
McComb
Psalm 13:6, I will sing the Lord's praise, for he has been good to me.
Shelton Whittington
1947 – 2024
Shelton was called home to live forever in the presence of his Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 10, 2024. Shelton loved God, family, and others - well. His life's work at Southwest Mississippi Community College for thirty-eight years, especially the Stageband, was the greatest joy for him as he loved being both a friend and a father to thousands of students throughout his career.
Outside of work, Shelton lived a quiet yet contented life. He enjoyed daily sitting on his porch at home reflecting on all the goodness God had done in his life and giving thanks for it. Shelton's strongest gift was praying for others, considering it both an honor and a privilege to intercede on their behalf before his loving and merciful God.
He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years – Sissy, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Shelton loved well and lived well, centering his life around the most important things, Faith in God and love for others. His faith is now turned to sight – he will be missed greatly until we meet again.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Irene Whitehead Whittington, two brothers Lantis Whittington and Morris Whittington, and three sisters Barbara Floyd, Clemmie Jackson, and Janice Prosch.
Visitation will be Tuesday May 14, 2024 at the Summit First Baptist Church, from 10:00 A.M. until funeral services at 12:00 Noon. Graveside services will follow in Mary Springs Cemetery in the Busy Corner Community of Amite County.
Pallbearers are Robbie Stewart, Kendall Smith, Ronnie Dunaway, Philip Alford, Bruce Pruitt, and Bradley White.
A special thanks for the extraordinary loving care and kindness shown to us by Camellia Estates and Hospice Compassus. They treated us like family, and to Dr. Luke Lampton, thanks for being our "quarterback", you guided us well.
