Slattery (Terry) Joseph Savoy
Terry, passed away Tuesday, March 30 th , 2021. He was born in Morganza, LA on January 9, 1938. Former resident of Baton Rouge, LA; currently lived in Centreville, MS.
He was a man with many accomplishments, first and foremost he was loved by many. He played six-man football at Morganza High School, and his team won the Morganza Championship. After graduating, he went into the military in New Jersey and got his social security number during his time there. He was a veteran with distinguished military service and received a Good Conduct Medal. Terry loved music, playing harmonica & was a member of a band in his younger years. He studied at LSU & was an enthusiastic fan of their football/basketball teams.
Terry worked and retired with 38 years of service from the Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System. During his retirement, as a former EMT, he was able to use that experience & worked tirelessly supporting other seniors in their time of need. In his later years, he moved to Centreville, MS with his wife, Ruby Nell (Ivy) Savoy (predeceased in 2016), where he was a proud member of the Centreville Baptist Church, in Centreville, MS.
Survivors include Mary Joyce Crochet (Sister), Jerry (Jackie) Savoy, Joe (Pamela) Ivy, Jeffery (Tammie) Ivy and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, great-grandchildren/nieces & nephews.
Family members that preceded him are Gilley Joseph Savoy (Father), Edna LeBlanc Savoy (Mother), Gerald Joseph Savoy (Brother), Ruby Nell (Halford-Ivy) Savoy (Spouse), and step-daughter Virgie Nell Ivy Linton.
There will be two services , Saturday April 10 th at 11am., there will be a graveside memorial service at the Roseland Cemetery in Gloster, MS. The service will be presided over by Mr. Fred Day of Centreville MS. Tuesday April 13th at 11am., there will be Veterans honor memorial service at Louisiana National Cemetery Complex, located at 303 W Mt Pleasant Zachary Rd, Zachary, LA.
As we all know, Terry had a special heart for praying for children with severe health conditions. So if you would like, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
