Obituary

Venita Irene Garnett On March 20, 2019, our good LORD took home one of his angels. At the age of 95, Venita Garnett left her earthly body and flew home to her heavenly family. Venita was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, as well as a loving sister.

Venita was an avid quilter and kept an immaculate yard until her stroke five years ago. She always had her loving companion with her. She outlived her last companion, a beautiful chocolate lab by three months. All of her beloved companions would have been waiting by the Rainbow Bridge.

Venita had an extensive working history. She worked for many years as a supervisor at Dotty Dan Factory in Lamesa, Texas. She then became the top administrator for nursing homes in Texas. She ended her long work history by retiring from Methodist Hospital as an area administrator in Lubbock, Texas.

Venita was born November 26, 1923 in Draw, Texas to Ed and Alma Garnett, the eldest of ten children. Venita was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Noble Wood, one son, Noble Preston Wood, Jr., and four sisters; LaVerne Tomlinson, Jean Burbank, Jane Pearce, and Jo Griffith.

Those left to cherish her memory are daughters; Charlotte Clark of Lamesa, Texas, Sherry Westbrook and Al of Liberty, Mississippi; grandchildren Lynn Thomas of Lamesa, Texas, Terry Clark of Euless, Texas, Mick Clark of Lamesa, Texas, Toni Henderson and Ray of Liberty, Mississippi, and Damon Westbrook and Julie of Liberty, Mississippi. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Also surviving her are three brothers Sonny Garnett of Vernon, Texas, Don Garnett of Lubbock, Texas, and Dennis Garnett of Lubbock, Texas. Two sisters survive her: Evelyn Chenault of Lubbock, Texas, and Wilma Little of Chikasha, Oklahoma. Numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends also survive her.

A very special thank you to Venita's caregivers: Jocelyn Nunnery, Nellie Nunnery, Oreal Nunnery, Nancy Nunnery, St. Luke Home Health, and St. Luke Hospice.
